STUDENTS at Wyre Forest School Gymnastics have enjoyed a fine start to the year.

The women’s artistic competitive team achieved a 100 per cent pass rate at the regional grades competition, with seven distinctions for outstanding scores at grades 14, 13 and 12.

The recreational boys and girls squad are also having a fantastic year.

At the George Finney Floor and Vault competition, Jacob Ritson, aged eight, achieved the silver overall medal for two solid performances in his age group.

At the novice four piece competition, Rebekkah Silveira, 14, scored 33.9 for third place overall.

In the floor and vault competition the boys team, made up of Joseph Smith, Connor Moody, Ewan Heath-Flynn, James Bendall and Marcus Hill, won the gold medal and shield for the second year in a row.

Club coaches have also been busy, with four new pre-school gymnastics coaches qualifying at level one.

The club now offers two pre-school classes for boys and girls aged three-years-old and above.

The classes are one hour long on Wednesdays from 12.15pm to 1.15pm and 1.30am to 2.30pm.

The club are also running their annual summer camp during the first three weeks of the summer holidays for boys and girls aged five-years-old and above.

Students work in small groups towards their British Gymnastics proficiency awards with qualified coaches and assistants.

The summer camp runs Monday to Friday between 10am and 11.30am and costs £27.50 per week. Participants receive a t-shirt and participation certificate and all are offered a place to join the club from October.
