CAPTAIN Jonathan Wright believes Kidderminster Victoria CC can overtake Birmingham and District League Premier Division leaders Knowle and Dorridge.

The Chester Road outfit are second in the table after their winning draw at Wolverhampton.

With seven games of the season left, they trail the defending champions and pacesetters by 46 points.

“We dominated throughout and showed our class,” commented Wright.

“Wolverhampton’s wicket is a tough one to get out on, so it was pleasing to get the winning draw and the two extra points for restricting them.

“Knowle and Dorridge very nearly lost to Walsall so I think we have a chance of catching them.

“If we are going to overhaul them we need to beat them at home and they need to lose another game, which is possible.

“I think there’s a sense of things coming together, players hitting form and that we’ve got some momentum.”

KVCC will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they entertain Wellington in the league on Saturday (noon start).

With Gareth Williams set to be out for two more weeks with a broken bone in his foot, James Smith will keep his place in the side.

Wright added: “We’ve had two tough away games at Kenilworth and Wolverhampton, so it will be nice to be back home.”
