JUBILANT Harriers manager Steve Burr could not fault any of his players after Saturday's Blue Square Bet Premier win over Histon but saved special praise for centre backs Tom Sharpe and Michael Briscoe.

The duo held fast against a spirited if limited Histon attack as Harriers made it back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season.

Briscoe has been a constant in the back four, but Sharpe has had to wait for his chance and he once again impressed in only this third start of the season.

While Chris McPhee's brilliant winner took the plaudits, Burr saved special praise for Harriers' defence, singling out the patient Sharpe.

He said: "I see the team of the day in the Non-League Paper and if Tom Sharpe and Michael Briscoe aren't in it I don't know what they have to do, they were outstanding as were the back four.

"I will single out Tom because I thought he was absolutely fantastic, he's had to wait for his chance but along with Michael they were excellent.

"I just felt in the second half we had really good chances to put the game to bed but we've got the win and reached 30 points.

"The lads keep looking at where we are in the table and I've told them not to get too carried away, but they have done fantastically to win at Histon."

McPhee's 34th minute effort was also a memorable moment for Harriers' versatile player, who put in a hard-working shift in central midfield.

His effort was the eighth of the season and the fifth in as many league games.

Such was its excellence, McPhee's perfect goal reminded Burr of one from the highest level 51 years ago.

Saturday's win also lifted Harriers within one point of the play-off places into seventh place.

Burr added: "I thought the goal Chris scored was a bit like the one Bobby Charlton scored against Benfica in the European Cup.

"I'm pleased for Chris, he's gone to play in the middle of the park but he's still scoring goals.

"I don't set targets of where I think we should be but you can only go out and win matches.

"At the minute we're on a good run and we're just outside the play-off spots so I can't ask for anymore."
