KIDDERMINSTER GC have elected 46-year old Paul Massey as club captain.

His two-year term in office is the realisation of a dream Massey has held since joining the club as a junior in the mid-1970s.

The keen 11-handicapper learned the game at Kidderminster and has served on various club committees for many years and has also distinguished himself as a player, most recently during his captaincy of the club B team in 2008 and 2009.

Massey said: “The appointment as captain of Kidderminster Golf Club is a wonderful honour.

“Whilst I am in office my committee and I, with the support of our new lady captain, will strive to lead the club forward and uphold its traditions, while modernising many aspects of our business and meeting the challenges of the 21st century.”

Maureen Brewer, who has been a member since 1979, is the new ladies' captain.

Brewer is a long-term committee member and was ladies competition secretary and vice-captain before stepping up to her new role.
