BEWDLEY Bowling Club just held on to top spot in the Hire It Wribbenhall League on Friday, despite losing their first game of the season to Rising Sun A.

Sun’s Neil Bennett opened for the home side with an impressive 120 against Bowling's Max John.

Bennett proved to be too strong taking out the leg in 15 darts hitting a double 19 out-shot.

Bewdley hit back well with Mick Reading beating Dave Edwards and Darren Edwards managing to edge past Dave Green to put the home side in front.

Dave and Darren Edwards clinched the match by beating John and Green in the doubles, leaving the Bowlers still top but only by games won.

Great Western came back from three legs down to beat Wribbenhall B. Tony Ward was the player given the job of taking a close final leg against Wribbenhall captain Mandy Jones.

Jones was scoring the big shots early in the leg and looked the likely winner but Ward came back with two 140s and a 87 out-shot to take the match.

Sun B lost narrowly to Waggon and Horses, with the winning leg coming from Paul Harding and Duncan Taylor in the double leg over Chris Edwards and Paul Crompton.

Red Lion brushed aside Wribbenhall A with some sharp shooting by Russ Wilks, who hit 180s in his singles and two 140s in his doubles leg to make easy work for the home side.
