LEADERS Rising Sun A produced a crushing victory against basement boys Wribbenhall B in the Hire It Wribbenhall Darts League on Friday night.

Nick Bennett opened for the Sun, winning the leg in just 16 darts against James Truesdale.

Wribbenhall’s Becky Jones got the better of Sun’s top thrower Darren Edwards to level the scores.

Edwards struggled to find his range against a very good opponent, while Jones threw some brilliant darts and was rewarded with the leg first time of asking, finishing with a flourish on a 76 out-shot.

However, the home team had no more to offer as the visitors took control and it was Sun’s Mark Williams who took the winning leg against Mandy Jones.

Williams did it in style, landing a 180 and double 16 to ensure Sun’s 4-3 win.

Waggon and Horses’ Richard Adams also hit a 180 in his trebles encounter against Wribbenhall A but it was Wribbenhall player Don Morris who helped his team to their fifth straight victory.

He threw three 100s, an impressive treble 20, single 19 and a double 11 in his 401 leg to take the match for the visitors.

Bewdley Bowling Club maintained second spot with a close match against Rising Sun B.

Sun’s Paul Welsh had to use a substitute set of darts in a fine display of arrows against bowlers George Evans.

Welsh fired in 120 opening darts and maintained high scoring shots with a double 16 double win, but it was Dave Green who took the decisive winning leg to keep the bowlers in touch at the top with three games to go.

The Funeral of Red Lion landlord Mr Dennis Wilks will take place at Wribbenhall church on Tuesday, August 16 at 1.45pm, with all of his darting friends welcome.
