Heath Hayes 1, Stourport Swifts 3

Swifts maintained their unbeaten start to the season with this emphatic win at Heath Hayes.

But the result paled into insignificance with the news that teammate Rory Curtis was seriously injured in hospital following a car accident.

The striker suffered multiple fractures in the motorway smash and players were due to visit him over the weekend.

On the field, Lewis Pountney scored a goal in each half to set-up the win at Heath Hayes.

He netted Stourport’s opener on 28 minutes, tucking the ball home following a powerful run out of defence by Mark Smith.

Pete Bromley levelled the scores before half-time, former Swift favourite Adam Robinson supplying the pass.

But Stourport regained the advantage two minutes into the second half when Pountney turned home a Joe Adams corner.

The striker missed a couple of chances to complete his treble and it was left to substitute Louis Bridges to wrap up the win eight minutes from time after he latched on to a long pass from Jordan Jones.
