SARAH Biles celebrated her 20th birthday in style by gaining her third level judo black belt.

The Samurai Judo Club star becomes only the second female player in Worcestershire to reach this level behind her own club-mate Kate Walker .

It also evens things up with her boyfriend Ben Newbury, who is also a third dan.

Biles, pictured, is one of the most successful players ever produced by the Kidderminster club, enjoying a run of five consecutive gold medals at British National selection and ranking events.

She is only the second Worcestershire judo player to represent Great Britain at full international level in recent years along with Walker, when competing at the Junior European Championships in Belgium last November.

Apart from competing, Biles is also vice-chairman of the club committee and is also a qualified coach and she officiated at both the Olympics and Paralympics.

At the recent opening of the new Samurai premises in Zortech Avenue, Biles took part in a challenge contest against Walker, being the only female judo player in the county who could give her a match.

Despite putting in a few strong attacks, Biles eventually succumbed to the inevitable.
