ISAAC Miller may have only played 11 minutes of competitive rugby since joining Worcester Warriors from Championship side London Scottish this summer.

But the fit-again hooker’s efforts on the training field were enough to earn him a contract extension at Sixways.

Head coach Rory Duncan described Miller as an “extremely hard trainer” and said the front rower was “not scared to put his head in dark places” in defence.

The 24-year-old arrived at Warriors in June only to fracture his collarbone in the opening pre-season game against Benetton in August.

After four months on the sidelines Miller made his Worcester debut last Friday when he came off the bench in the defeat at Pau in the European Challenge Cup.

Duncan said Miller had made a “great recovery” and he was “excited” to work with him.

“The first time I noticed Isaac was when we went away to Benetton,” Duncan said.

“He certainly stood out in that game so it’s just unfortunate that he had that shoulder injury after a big tackle he made.

“He is a player that brings a lot of energy. I like hard trainers and he is an extremely hard trainer.

“On most days you will see him working on his lineout throwing.

“He is not scared to put his head in dark places as he commits himself to the tackle and at the breakdown.

“He is not the biggest man but he is certainly a physical man for his size.”

With Niall Annett suffering a knock against Pau, Miller looks set to be given another chance to impress when Warriors meet the French side at Sixways on Saturday (3pm).

“I have been impressed with what I have seen from him to date,” Duncan said.

“But it would be nice if we could see him in a match scenario and get a couple more games under his belt.

“He managed to get a bit of a run-out at the weekend but only for a limited time.

“Hopefully over the next week or two we will see a bit more of him.
