POLICE have launched an appeal after hundreds of hay bales were allegedly set alight on purpose in Kidderminster.
The fire, which was started on farm land off Habberley Lane on Sunday (September 19), caused £9,000 worth of damage to crops.
Witnesses have described seeing three youths including two males, with one wearing black, and one in grey on bike, as well as one female wearing a grey hoodie and grey shorts in the area shortly prior to the start of the fire.
A spokesperson for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The incident involved around 425 large bales of hay which were well alight."
North Worcestershire Police said on Twitter: "If you have any information an either of these incidents please contact the Police via 101 quoting reference 00491_i_19092021, reply to this message or report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
Following the fire, a GoFundMe page was launched to help the farmer recoup lost funds. Nearly £1,000 has been raised after it was set up earlier this week.
