KEMP Hospice's annual tree collection and recycling event has raised more than £13,000 for care and support services.

The Kidderminster hospice has thanked residents and volunteers who gave their time and equipment to support the event, where a record-breaking 632 trees were collected.

Jayne Sargeant, corporate and events fundraiser, said: “We are so excited to announce that this year’s tree collection raised £13,875.20 for our care and support services.

"Teams of volunteers from local businesses and partners gave up their time over two days to collect trees from various postcodes in the area.

"Thanks to those who donated and the volunteers, a wonderful amount has been raised for KEMP and we are absolutely thrilled.”

The tree collection sees the end of a special festive fundraising period for the Hospice, which included their popular Santa Fun Run, School Rudolph Run activities, Christmas Hamper raffles and their annual Light Up a Life event.

Community support for all their recent events helped to raise over £38,000 for the charity.

Charlie Homer, head of fundraising and communications said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown to KEMP, particularly in recent months.

"We’re so aware of the current challenges affecting so many people, so we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who chose to support us.

“We rely on local residents, businesses and supporters to help us continue to be there for people when they need us. There are many ways people can help us whether that’s taking part in an event, fundraising for us or volunteering their time to support our activities. We have a packed year of events and challenges ahead and anyone can get involved by signing up on our website kemphospice.org.uk/events.”

This year’s tree collection event was sponsored by Linden Homes and Countryside Partnerships with the Santa Fun Run sponsored by Talbots Law, Kidderminster.
