June 11, 2001 17:29: BATSMEN dominated at Uxbridge on Saturday as a draw for Winchmore Hill saw them lose their top spot in the Middlesex County Cricket League division one.

The home side, who were second bottom in the table with just one point before the game, belied their lowly position with an impressive performance.

Uxbridge won an important toss and decided to bat first on a pitch which offered little life to the bowlers.

They built a total of 244-3 declared, Adrian Green top-scoring with 87, to leave the visitors a mountain to climb.

David Alleyne batted superbly for 75 as Hill chased their target, but they ran out of time at 209-6 and had to settle for four points.

They lie second in the table with 28 points, four points behind Ealing.

Hill's seconds also drew, at home against Hornsey. The away side batted first and scored 236 all out from 54 overs.

Ollie Adamson's 66 and Fitz Blake's 58 helped the hosts to reply with 213-8. Hill picked up four points and are fourth in the seconds' division one with 28 points.

Hill thirds were beaten by 19 runs in a tight game at leaders Ealing. The home side declared at 181-8 and the visitors could only manage 161 all out despite 68 from Hilbert.

They are fourth in the thirds' division one with 30 points.

Enfield retained their place at the top of the firsts' division three despite picking up just four points with a home draw against Old Actonians.

John Allen's 69 and Andy Moulding's 60 helped the hosts to built a formidable total of 236-5 declared, but the visitors held out for a draw with 189-8.

Enfield have 38 points and lead by four points from Barclay's Bank.

In an extraordinary game in the seconds' division three, Enfield tied at Old Actonians to score five points.

Both teams were all out for 136, Jones taking 5-50 for the visitors. Enfield are seventh with 20 points from five games so far this season.

Enfield thirds lost by 17 runs at North Middlesex in their division three.

The home side batted first and put together a superb first-wicket stand of 215, Andy Coleman scoring 117.

They declared at 246-5 and the visitors could only manage 229 all out in reply. Enfield are fourth in the table with 20 points. They have a game in hand but are 30 points behind leaders Old Actonians.
