WORCESTERSHIRE bid to reinforce their position at the top of LV= County Championship Division Two at cellar-dwellers Leicestershire at Grace Road tomorrow.
The top-versus-bottom clash gets under way at 11am and New Road skipper Daryl Mitchell is backing his in-form side to maintain the unbeaten run that has taken them to the summit of the four-day standings at the half-way point of the season.
The winless Foxes have managed four draws and three defeats from seven outings, but Mitchell, 30, insists the result is not a foregone conclusion.
He said: “Leicestershire have done reasonably well this season, but still haven’t picked up a win yet. They have scored a fair few runs and drawn several games.
“However, if we can get our game right, then I am confident we will be able to come out on top.”
The County are level on points with Hampshire after claiming eight bonus points to five from the table-toppers’ drawn match at New Road last week.
The south coast outfit welcome third-placed Essex to the Ageas Bowl this week.
