WORCESTERSHIRE spinner Shaaiq Choudhry has returned to fitness two weeks ahead of schedule.
Choudhry has started bowling and batting after suffering a side strain when bowling in a pre-season game against Gloucestershire at New Road in late March.
He is currently in action in T20 friendly fixtures with Somerset at Taunton Vale and Cardiff MCCU at Bromsgrove CC tomorrow.
County physiotherapist Ben Davies said: “Shaaiq is back to fitness now. With the scan it looked like it was going to be a six week injury.
“He is back bowling and has batted and gone through all his shots.
“He has worked really hard and got back a couple of weeks quicker than we probably thought he would because he has worked so hard. It is really positive news.”
Davies added: “Shaaiq has been trying to bowl a bit faster and was bowling really nicely pre-season.
“But just from trying to get the ball down a bit quicker, he was a bit over exhuberant and just strained the side. He has got back in four weeks instead of probably six.”
