Couple to take on Snowdon for friend Vickie
Updated 8:07am Tuesday 4th March 2014 in News
A KIDDERMINSTER couple are walking up Mount Snowdon in memory of their friend Vickie Harvey who died of Leukaemia aged 24.
Michaela Evans and John Griffin, both 26, will be taking on the challenge to raise money for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
Miss Harvey, also of Kidderminster, died of Acute Myeloid Leukaemia on Tuesday, December 10 last year after a brave 15-month battle with the disease.
Miss Evans said: "Vickie has a close circle of girl friends and we would probably describe each other more as family. We used to visit her in hospital and take her out when she was strong enough.
"Since Vickie passed away we have all been going round to support Vickie's Mum and Dad at this devastating time. We go round tell each other stories drink wine and eat pizza."
Miss Evans met Miss Harvey when she was 16 as they were at school together at Wolverley Secondary School.
She added: "I am thankful that John is supporting me coming up Snowdon as the rest of the girls are going to do the colour run in August and I could not attend as I am away on holiday.
"At the moment we're hoping to raise £500 but that's a minimum. I'd like about £1,000 if possible.
"Vickie had her whole life ahead of her, we hope that one day there will be a cure and nobody has to die this young."
The couple will be walking up Mount Snowdon on Saturday, June 28. To donate visit justgiving.com/Michaela-Evans-Griffin
