MORE than 100 people attended a service to celebrate Women's World Day of Prayer.

The event was held at two Kidderminster churches - The Church of the Holy Innocents and Franche Baptist Church - with speakers Rev Rose Lawley and Rev Simon Gudger.

Madeline Roy, who helped organise the event, said: "It was a powerful testimony of Christian unity throughout the world. Written by the women of Egypt long before 2011 and the time of violent transition that continues today, this prayerful, ecumenical service is pivotal at this crucial time."

She added both speakers "captured the challenge of choosing the Christian life of love and forgiveness in the face of hostility".
