KIDDERMINSTER Carnival is going quackers with the launch of its annual fund-raising duck race tomorrow.

Organisers hope the fun event will make a big splash and raise hundreds of pounds for this year’s charity, Wyre Forest Nightstop and Mediation Service, which helps young homeless people.

Ducks will be on sale outside Tesco at Weavers Wharf and in the town centre during the day, priced £1 each, and the big race will take place on the River Stour starting at the Tesco bridge at 4pm, with prizes for the first three over the finishing line.

Carnival chairman Colin Hill said: “The duck race is a bit of fun and helps us get into carnival mood ahead of the big day, but it also raises a lot of money which goes to our chosen charity.”

There is still time to book a stall at the Brinton Park showground for the carnival on Saturday, June 21. Anyone interested should contact Mr Hill on 01562 751634.

Organisations and individuals wishing to enter the revived, small street parade can enter in advance by emailing joannebowett@gmail.com for a form.
