A MUSICAL biography of Diana Ross has been written by a former Kidderminster man.

Ian Phillips, 31, had his book, Diana Queen of Motown, published after chatting to an author, at a Ross concert, at Wembley Arena.

The writer put him in touch with motown-themed book publishers Bank House Books, who offered him a deal.

The former King Charles High School student moved to the North West in 1999, to persue his career as an author and actor.

The book celebrates Diana’s career in music, films, TV and live performances.

There are reviews of each album, with a track-by-track guide, which explores the creative processes and artist collaborations behind the music.

It also highlights her films, television appearances and significant achievements during a career that spans five decades.

Mr Phillips said: “Diana Ross’s contribution to music is often sorely under-rated and lives under the shadow of the so-called diva reputation she has. I interviewed several motown stars including the Supremes, The Marvelettes and the Miracles, who all came forward to express their love and admiration for her.”
