ROCKERS UFO have been making metal for more than four decades but show no signs of slowing down.

The band was formed in 1969 by vocalist Phil Mogg, drummer Andy Parker, guitarist Mick Bolton and bassist Pete Way.

They were at the peak of the powers in the 1970s with three classic albums Phenomenon, Force It and No Heavy Pettin’, which were released between 1974 and 1976 featuring guitarist Michael Schenker.

The band is widely credited as a group who built the bridge between hard rock and the New Wave of British Metal which spawned some of the biggest names in rock including Iron Maiden.

Although UFO’s line up has changed regularly throughout their history they have continued to write, record and play live.

UFO are currently in the middle of a European tour and the Base Sessions team caught up with the band during rehearsals for a chat about their career past and present.

The Base Sessions is recorded and produced by Base Studios in Stourbridge.
