A FESTIVAL in Hopton Wafers will be giving talented youngsters the chance to perform on stage, some for the first time.

The Hole in the Wall Festival has been running a youth project with local schools and youth clubs and has invited them to perform at the Teenage Kix Arena.

This year, the Bewdley School has also been involved in designing and painting the art work for the stage’s backdrop which will be on display at the festival from next Friday to Sunday.

The artistic youngsters have been given a free ticket to the festival to see acts including The Rolling Stones tribute The Counterfeit Stones, Bon Giovi and Bootleg Blondie.

As part of the festival, Cleobury Mortimer brewer Hobsons is inviting teams to enter its first It’s a Knockout Competition.

Working with Live the Adventure, based in Stottesdon, they have designed a course of six stations in the grounds of Hopton Court.

Kate Pearce, marketing manager of Hobsons, said: “We came up with the idea following our own team day at the Old Vicarage Centre in Stottesdon last year.

“We’ve taken ideas to create our own adventure challenge with a flavour of Hobsons, including a climbing tower, gladiator joust, target archery, paintball, twisted lake and fermenter pit.”

The competition is open to local teams, sports clubs and businesses, made up of eight team members with a minimum age of 16.

Entries forms are available from hobsons-brewery.co.uk/culture/its-a-knock-out.aspx and the closing date for entries is Monday.

The event starts at 6pm and the winning team will be presented with a trophy and firkin of beer plus prizes for under-16s.

Evening entertainment following the competition includes a pig roast, bar and disco.
