BEWDLEY students attended a Shropshire festival to see their artwork displayed at the back of one of the stages.

Budding artists from the Bewdley School painted the backdrop to the Teenage Kix stage at the Hole in the Wall festival, in Hopton Wafers, and were given tickets for their efforts.

Acts headlining the festival included tribute bands the Counterfeit Stones and Bon Giovi.

Eight key stage three pupils, who attend after school art club, designed and painted the backdrop with cartoon characters, animals and bats.

The Hole in the Wall Festival has been running a youth project with local schools and youth clubs for the last few years.

Becky Newbold, director of specialism at the Bewdley School, said: “Our young people were delighted to have been given the opportunity to create the backdrop for the festival.

“They have worked so hard to get everything completed on time, and have appreciated the opportunity to work on a live project.”
