A MOTORSPORT enthusiast from Kidderminster is going full throttle to hold her second annual celebration of females in the fast lane.

For Ladies That Launch is a weekend of high speed events aimed at women involved in any aspect of motorsports.

It will run between Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, at Shakespeare County Raceway near Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Organiser and mashal Beth Satchell said: “The idea behind For Ladies That Launch is to get like-minded women together from all aspects of motorsport, whether a competitor, marshal, official, site staff, crew or the lady who makes racing possible.

"There is an estimated 50,000 women involved in motorsport in the UK but you very rarely hear about them.”

Beth, 43, who has been into drag racing since the age of 18 can be spotted around Kidderminster in her grey Volvo S60 with the event logo on the side.

The Ladies That Launch Shootout will be a bike and car drag racing knockout eliminator with trophies for the best performers. There will be a photo shoot as a memento of the event, live music and a bar in the evening.

Two days of open racing will take place in the Run What You Brung competition and there will be races from men and women in the Supertwins motorcycle championship, muscle cars from the Outlaw Street boys and girls, Junior Dragsters and Junior Drag Bikes. Tractor pullers will get down and dirty in a round of the British Tractor Pulling Championships.

Throughout the weekend money will be raised for Refuge - a charity for women and children against domestic violence. A raceteam will raffle the chance to be a passenger in a race car called Orange Pop, part of a fast and furious class called the Outlaw Anglias.
