AMERICAN US pop sensation Allstar Weekend will perform for students at Kidderminster’s Baxter College ahead of their gig at Alton Towers Live.

The chart-topping boy band will play at Baxter on Wednesday, June 15 before they go onstage alongside the likes of JLS, The Saturdays, McFly and Eliza Doolittle at the theme park on Sunday, June 19.

They will also play at the River Rooms in Stourbridge on Saturday, June 18 from 2pm.

The band comprises San Diego high school pals lead singer Zach Porter, lead guitarist Nathan Darmody, bassist Cameron Quiseng and drummer Michael Martinez.

The guys started out playing at friend’s pool parties and in early 2009 they drove up to LA to hand out flyers outside the premiere of Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.

A little over a year - and a publishing deal with Disney - later, the band’s high-energy punk-pop singles have sold over half a million copies and topped the Top 30 Countdown on Radio Disney, without even going to commercial radio.

They now have 600,000 facebook followers and have opened shows for the likes of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez.

Nathan said: “Super-surreal is probably the best way to describe it.” Cameron said he was still amazed that “a song that we wrote in one of our bedrooms when we were 16 is now number one on Radio Disney.”
