A TEENAGE singing sensation from Kidderminster has made it through to the area final of a nationwide singing competition.

Jennifer White, 15, is only one performance away from a place at the TeenStar grand final after sailing through the Birmingham regional final in front of 400 people.

Bewdley School student Jennifer was complimented on how she connected with her song I Dreamed a Dream.

The judges said they believed what she was singing and that Jennifer made good use of the stage.

Jennifer, who has twice appeared at Her Majesty's Theatre in London with Stagecoach, hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre due to her interests in singing and dancing.

She will now perform again at the Midlands and South West area final on Saturday, May 24 at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham.

TeenStar is a national talent competition which searches for the UK’s best teen and pre-teen singers, singer-songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres.

Thousands of hopefuls entered TeenStar nationwide and hundreds of auditionees queued for their turn to impress the judges.

Chris Grayston, events coordinator for TeenStar, said: "We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, another Birdy or Luke Friend that can go all the way, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist. There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find that star again."

The competition is divided into the age categories, late teens, mid teens and pre-teens.
