FAST rising American star, Chastity Brown, is to headline the next event in the monthly Music in the Hall series, in Bewdley.

Chastity will fly on to the St George’s Hall stage on Friday, June 9.

Based in Minnesota, but with roots in Tennessee - Chastity grew up surrounded by country and soul music. In the full gospel church of her childhood, she played saxophone and drums, and found her singing voice and a passion for music.

She has been featured on NPR’s “Favourite Sessions”, CMT, American Songwriter, the London Times and Paste Magazine.

She has toured the US and abroad, appearing on the UK’s Later with Jools Holland.

For most of last year, she toured alongside folk icon Ani Difranco.

Chastity’s latest album “Sihouette of Sirens” was released through Red House Records on May 19, including the single “Wake Up”. The album’s 10 original tracks introduce a new voice – a songwriter of power and conviction who isn’t afraid to bare her heart as she sings of heartbreak, need and love.

The main support act for June’s Music in the Hall event, is Bewdley’s own Tale Lights - who have been described as the strongest unsigned duo in the UK today and are currently getting a lot of airplay on the BBC.

Ben Keen and Dan Francois-Smith don’t do anything by halves. They grew up as friends and went to school together. They joined bands and they formed bands - the most significant of which was Kairos - a band that received more than just a nod from London and Midlands promoters.

Now a self-sufficient duo, Tale Lights are two committed writers of truly memorable and melodic songs, and two accomplished performers with strongly blended vocal harmonies and a real sense of purpose.

The evening will be opened by a monthly youth act - and taking to the stage is month is Two’s Company, featuring the highly accomplished vocal harmonies of Lauren Hall and Beth Dalton - who never fail to deliver spine-tingling sets.

Doors will open at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the show on June 9, cost £10.

Tickets for Music in the Hall are available from the St George’s Hall cafe, or online by visiting musicinthehall.co.uk or thehall-bewdley.org.uk.
