SIX children from a Wyre Forest theatre company will be bringing a taste of Thailand to Brierley Hill when they take part in the staging of The King and I.

The much-loved musical from Rogers and Hammerstein will be the second outing for the Quarry Bank Musical Theatre Society at Brierley Hill Civic Hall following on from the success of putting on the iconic The Sound Of Music last year.

As part of the strong cast of amateur players, six children from Kidderminster's Stagecoach Theatre Group all landed parts in the show after going up several others in auditions.

James Bastable will become Prince Chulalongkorn, Oliver Hart-Bradford and Alex Cook will become Louise, and Archie Middleton, Flora Middleton, and Mason Howells will join the rest of the cast when they go live on stage from Tuesday to Saturday, June 2 to 6, for six appearances.

Steve Fletcher, chairman of the society, will be making his directing debut with the adaption of the classic love story but Richard Ganner returns to direct the music.

The society has also collaborated, for the first time, with Sheryl's Dance Academy, based in Cradley Heath, who will provide the dancers for the ballet scene and throughout the show.

Quarry Bank Musical Theatre Society's The King And I will be playing at Brierley Hill Civic Hall from Tuesday until Saturday, June 2 to 6, with 7.30pm shows and a 2.15pm matinee on the Saturday.

Tickets are available through the Box Office at qbmts.org.uk or by calling 07913 884208.
