A PRODUCTION of ‘As You Like It’ is heading to Stourport this month.

Bishops Wood Centre is welcoming back the Folksy Theatre as part of their 2016 tour, as they bring a performance of the William Shakespeare comedy on Thursday, July 21.

The comedy about life, love, betrayal, faith and death tells the story of Rosalind – the daughter of a banished Duke who falls in love with Orlando, leading her to be banished by her uncle.

After taking on the appearance of a boy and calling herself Gayanmede, she and her cousin Celia and jester Touchstone travel on a journey through the Forest of Arden where he father livers.

Filled with bold characters and plenty of laughs, audience members will follow the story as Rosalind attempts to re-unite and marry Orlando, in a hope that the Duke will change his views.

John Rhymer, secretary of Friends of Bishops Wood, said: "This is a perfect tribute to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.

"What better place to see it than in the wonderful grounds at Bishops Wood Centre in front of the dome home stage?

"Bring a blanket, picnic and folding chair and sit back and enjoy.

"Folksy theatre always make their performances lively and engaging so this is an evening suitable for families with children as young as 6."

Doors for the show open at 6.30pm to give people time to settle down for picnics.
