YOU’D have thought the streets of Worcester were paved with gold this Saturday as Dick Whittington, his allies and his enemies caused a rumpus on the High Street.

The cast of the Swan Theatre’s 2009 panto were out in force, with the dashing Dick Whittington (played by Ben Humphrey) wooing the ladies, Sarah the Cook (Richard Curnow) heckling passers by, and the Evil Queen Rat (Liz Grand) strutted around with her gang of baby rats causing mayhem.

Comedy pirate pair, Captain Cockles (Rob Leetham) and Mate Muscles (Graeme Brookes) had onlookers laughing along with their double act, while Fairy (Anna-Julia Grinnell) was instantly surrounded by a crowd of adoring children.

The story of Dick Whittington tells the rags-to-riches tale of the poor boy from Gloucester who makes his way to London to seek his fortune. With help from his cheeky feline friend Tommy, Dick sets out to find out if the streets really are paved with gold and if good really can defeat evil.

The Swan panto is just good old fashioned traditional family fun, with all the panto favourites, booing the baddies, cheering the heroes, singing along and having a great fun time. Tickets are great value, which means the whole family can enjoy the show.

Tickets are available now, for shows from December 7 to January 3, priced from £9.95 to £14.95.
