A KIDDERMINSTER couple whose eyes met at a dance above The Shuttle office will be celebrating their golden wedding today.

Timothy, 70, and Diane Oldnall, 69, were just teenagers when they met at the dance in Blackwell Street in 1959 and their love blossomed as they got to know each other.

“There used to be a dance there every Saturday evening,” recalled Mrs Oldnall. “Most of the people in Kidderminster used to go to it because it was all we had. My friends and his friends saw each other and got on well together.

“Timothy didn’t appear to be my type at first and then I got to know him.”

The pair tied the knot at St Mary’s Church three years later and went on to have three children, seven grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

Mrs Oldnall was a former nurse at Kidderminster Hospital and her husband worked in the Kidderminster carpet industry.

“We have had our ups and downs like everybody else but we get on well together,” said Mrs Oldnall.

“I can’t imagine being with anyone else.”

The couple will celebrate their milestone with a family meal.
