A BEWDLEY schoolgirl made a splash when she swam 5,000 metres to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Erin Boddice, 11, of Bewdley School, collected £317 in sponsorship for her 200-length swim which took place at the Sebastian Coe Health Club, in Habberley Road.

Erin is a member of the Wyre Forest Swimming Club and decided to raise money for charity for her distance award badge.

Her mother Vicki Boddice said: “At school, their chosen charity is Birmingham Children’s Hospital and it all tied in with raising funds as part of that.

“I think its brilliant. She was so keen and determined and the charity is such a worthy cause. I’m so proud of her “She collected the money by going round school and asking neighbours. She worked really hard.”

Erin is also a rookie lifeguard.

She received two certificates for her swim, one for completing the distance from the swimming club and another for raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

She also gained a citizen award from school.
