A CLEOBURY Mortimer grade one listed house and gardens will be open on Sunday.
Mawley Hall was built in 1730 and contains a preserved Baroque interior. It will be open from noon to 5pm.
The gardens at Mawley were created in the 1960s and have gained listed status in their own right due to large expanses of lawns, vistas, urn monuments and a herb garden.
There is also mature oaks, beeches and cedars and an extensive collection of ornamental trees each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet.
The herb garden was created in 1969 where five pillars of Irish juniper line each side of the central path leading to the joiner’s shop.
Views of Malvern, Clee Hill and Brecon National Park can be seen from the gardens and there are walks to The Lower Forge at Mawley or down by the riverside.
It will cost £8.50 to visit or £3.50 for the gardens with all proceeds going to The Friends of St Mary’s and Shropshire Historic Churches Trust.
