A KIDDERMINSTER man was fined for possession of six cannabis plants by Magistrates today.
Mitchell Webb, 23, of Aintree Close, pleaded guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court to possessing the plants, which were found in the window of an upstairs bedroom on Tuesday, June 25.
He was fined £73 for possession and was ordered to pay a £20 victim surcharge and costs of £50.
Kerry Brookes prosecuting said: “Officers attended the address in relation to an unrelated matter and found six plants in a window of an upstairs bedroom.
“He knew they were cannabis plants, he knew it was illegal to possess them.”
Defence solicitor Katherine Maynereid said Webb did not have any equipment helping the plants and that he was not in court for cultivation of cannabis.
She said: “They were on a window sill. I don’t think there were doing particularly well on their own.
"They were going to be house plants. It was a somewhat naive and stupid thing to do."
Mrs Maynereid said that with the help of some money from his mother, Mr Webb now had permanent accommodation and was trying to turn his life around.
Magistrates also called for the destruction of the six plants.
