NATURE, technology and sustainability were brought together in a packed week of practical challenges for science-mad pupils at Kidderminster’s Baxter College.

The final week of term for years seven to 10 was devoted to a variety of activities across the subject areas plus trips out, as the normal timetable was suspended.

The science department led pupils in making bug houses and a giant bug hotel, a willow dragonfly, bottle greenhouse and working hovercraft, as well as delving into forensic science.

Teacher Jacqui Haldane said: “It was a great week and went very well, with the pupils enjoying the hands-on science, drawing together sustainability and eco, nature and technology.”

Pupils could also choose from sessions ranging from being film critics to international master chefs and from an apprentice challenge to pottery and multi-sports.

Trips out included ice skating, paintballing, fishing and visits to the Tamworth SnowDome, London, Blackpool Pleasure Beach and Warwick Castle.
