THE Shuttle is looking to pump thousands of pounds into good causes in Wyre Forest.

We want local groups and organisations to benefit from the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, the parent company of Newsquest Media Group and owner of The Shuttle.

The foundation supports projects involving education, neighbourhood improvements, economic development, youth development, local problem-solving, assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.

Typically the grants are between £5,000 and £10,000, although more modest applications are welcome.

The trustees who decide on the successful applications will be looking for schemes that demonstrate good planning and financial responsibility and which offer lasting benefits for the communities served by The Shuttle and its sister papers all over the UK.

Wyre Forest recipients of Gannett grants last year were the 1st Kidderminster Boys Brigade who received £3,695 for new camping equipment and Kidderminster Foodbank which received just over £1,000 for computer and storage equipment.

Other Wyre Forest groups to benefit in recent years include Dial-a-Ride, Age UK, Kidzone and Home-Start. They have shared thousands of pounds.

Grant applications will only be accepted from registered charities and applications can only be submitted by email.

Charities must also email copies of their most recent financial accounts, any supporting documents and details of the overall aims of the charity.

Each nomination will be judged on its own merits at the absolute discretion of the trustees, whose decision is final. The successful applicants will be announced in November.

Requests for grants can only be submitted on the approved application form, which can be obtained by emailing clive.joyce@ kidderminstershuttle.co.uk or by downloading it from The Shuttle website.

Simply click on the Gannett icon on our Home Page or on he link at the bottom of this article to download the form.

The completed form and supporting documents should be returned to editor Clive Joyce by email by 5pm on Monday, September 16.
