AFTER building their new lodge alongside Chester Road Sports and Social Club last year, Kidderminster Freemasons have forged a unique partnership with the town’s cricket club.

This was illustrated when the masons provided the biggest single contribution towards Kidderminster Victoria Cricket Club’s new electronic scoreboard at the Chester Road ground.

The smart modern feature cost more than £9,000 to build and the masons gave £3,000 towards the project .

Cricket club president Norman Broadfield said he was delighted with the “happy marriage” of the two organisations after the lodge was built in 2012.

“Last year I was saying how significant the building of the new masonic centre at Chester Road would be for all parties and I’m delighted that I was right,” he said.

“We have great support from the masonic members, and they have backed the club brilliantly in the last year.”

Provincial Grand Master of Worcestershire, Robert Vaughan, attended the vice presidents’ lunch at the club’s home match with Wombourne and presented the masons’ donation towards the scoreboard.
