DETECTIVES have been granted more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of the attempted murder of a woman found stabbed.

The 25-year-old woman was found inside a house in Lea Street, Kidderminster, with stab wounds after police were called to the property just before 11.30pm on Sunday.

She remains in intensive care at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham where she is in a serious but stable condition.

Detectives successfully applied at Kidderminster Magistrates Court this morning for a warrant of further detention to continue questioning the 24-year-old man who was arrested in Hagley shortly after the woman was found seriously injured.

He is being held at a police station in North Worcestershire and the warrant expires at midnight.

Police still want to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything unusual in Lea Street on Sunday evening or knows anything that could help their inquiries.

Officers are continuing to visit homes in the area as part of the investigation. A scene guard remains outside the property where the woman was found as forensic examination is ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at Kidderminster CID on 101, quoting 534-S-280713.
