FORMER pupils and staff of King Charles l school. Kidderminster, will be heading back to school for the Old Carolians Association’s (OCA’s) 101st annual dinner later this month.

It takes place on Saturday, November 23.

Those who studied at the school, whether in its modern form or back in its days as a boys’ grammar school, will be meeting up to celebrate and relive their youth over dinner and drinks in the school hall.

The association’s incoming president, Charles Combes, who taught at the school from 1966 to 2000, is looking forward to hosting the evening.

“The annual dinner is a great night out and an easy way to keep up with old friends,” he said. “The Old Carolians Association connects people from across the lifetime of the school and we’re always keen to see younger members joining to keep the momentum going.”

Any former King Charles l school pupil or staff member is eligible to join OCA or book tickets for the dinner via its website, oldcarolians.org.uk/ or by contacting Peter Guy on 01562 754870 . Bookings for dinner should be made by November 15.

King Charles l School was established in 1626 by royal charter as a boys grammar school. In 1977 the school merged with the town’s two other grammar schools to become a voluntary controlled co-educational comprehensive, which recently achieved academy status. It is the only school in the UK of its name.
