A PETITION opposing the possible closure of Bewdley’s fire station has been handed in to fire chiefs.
A total of 550 people signed the petition in a bid to save the town’s base. It was handed to Derek Prodger, chairman of Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.
The signatures were collected by members of the Bewdley branch of the Labour Party in the town centre, and Labour town councillor Paul Gittins gave the petition to Mr Prodger.
Fire chiefs are considering closing the Dog Lane sta tion, along with three others across Worcestershire and Herefordshire, under plans to save almost £4.7 million.
