A WOMAN was rescued from her car following a crash involving a lorry in Kidderminster this morning.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off the black Vauxhall Corsa to get the woman out, following the smash with a white Volvo articulated lorry.

It happened at about 10.15am at Park Butts Ringway. One side of the carriageway was closed by police but has now reopened.

The woman, believed to be from Kidderminster, has been taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, after suffering numbness, pins and needles and neck pain. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening, however.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “The woman’s car had suffered extensive damage after being in collision with a lorry. The 53 year old woman and sole occupant of the car suffered neck and shoulder injuries.

“The three paramedics and technician worked with the fire service to carefully extricate her from the car and onto a spinal board to keep her fully immobilised. The woman, who was also suffering from the effects of shock, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

“The driver of the lorry, a man, was uninjured.”

It comes just two days after a man was killed in a crash involving an oil tanker on the A449 Worcester Road.
