A NURSE from Callow Hill raised more than £1,000 for a breast cancer charity by stripping down to her bra for a midnight marathon.

Angela Allan, 58, took part in her first MoonWalk in aid of Walk the Walk, which saw 17,000 women walk 26.2 miles around London.

Mrs Allan took part with a team from Kent, including her sister-in-law Jan Allan-Daniel.

She said: "Those who have done the walk in previous years say it was the most challenging to date, it was windy, wet and cold.

"There was a great party atmosphere with about17,000 women and a few men, with everyone wearing decorated bras and ponchos when it was raining."

The route took Mrs Allan across the River Thames, past Battersea Power Station, St Paul's Cathedral, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

She added: "The last 6.2 miles were hard work, everyone was tired and the legs were aching however we were spurred on by the thoughts of everyone who was supporting and sponsoring us.

" I, and many others, felt so relieved as the finish line came into sight. I felt quite emotional and I know I wasn't the only who cried as I received my medal."

Mrs Allan received more than 100 donations from family, friends, doctors, nurses and patients that she works with and neighbours.
