A PET store in Kidderminster is marking rabbit awareness week with a series of workshops.

Pets at Home, Crossley Retail Park is holding the sessions on how to care for rabbits responsibly on Saturday and Sunday where highly-trained store staff will be on-hand throughout the day to provide information and advice on how to keep pet rabbits healthy and happy.

Store manager Emma Morgans said: "Rabbits are the UK's third most popular pet, making rewarding pets for adults and supervised older children.

"They're highly intelligent, social, interactive and fun creatures that are extremely clean and can even be litter trained. They have very individual and distinct personalities and often live more than 10-years-old, so having a rabbit as a pet is a long-term commitment."

Rabbit Awareness Week - which runs until Sunday - is an annual event where experts such as vets, pet retailers, welfare charities and manufacturers work together to educate people on how to give owned rabbits the best care possible.

This year's theme is "change one thing", to demonstrate how simple changes to a pet rabbit's environment, health, company, behaviour and diet can make a difference to its life.
