PUPILS at Baxter College in Kidderminster were given the opportunity to question Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier during a special assembly.

Children quizzed the Conservative about his role in Parliament and the challenges he faced on a daily basis.

The MP, in turn, took part in chemistry and biology lessons to learn more about the school and its teachers.

He said: “One of the problems MPs have is that we make lots of decisions on issues we do not necessarily have practical experience of.

“I wanted to visit Baxter College to give me a personal insight into the education system and to find out more about the challenges schools face.

“It was fascinating to simply watch the teachers, who are doing a remarkable job.”

Dave Seddon, principal at Baxter College, added: “It takes courage to come outside of your comfort zone but he came with an open mind and left with a far greater appreciation and respect of how the school really does make a difference to children’s life chances.

“It was a visit of mutual benefit. We gained an insight into the problems he faces in his job and he left knowing more about the wider world that affects his constituents.

“We would like to thank him for such a personal approach to learning more about schooling.”

I suppose a little more education for mr Garnier is good idea, after all the jobs market is rather slow so any extra advantage he can get will serve him well next year whilst looking for new employment.

At last, Mark decides it's a good idea to learn O'level Economics. A bit late now but never mind, maybe he could enrol George Osborne?

Sadly typical response- a genuine attempt to help engage the youth of the area in the political process is trivialised by the usual local left-leaning cynics.
