A KIDDERMINSTER College student has become one of 10 dancers in the country to be awarded a scholarship from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation to continue her studies at Bird College, Kent.

Amy Wood, from Worcester, is the fourth pupil from the college to gain a place at Bird College, a theatre school which audition more than 1,250 candidates each year for its 100 places.

She has also received a Dance and Drama Award, awarded to exceptionally talented performing arts students.

The college has former students at many major dance and theatre schools across the country including London Studio Centre, Guildford School of Acting, Laine Theatre Arts and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Anna Lines, course leader for dance, said: “I am delighted with Amy’s success which further builds on our reputation as a place where learners can achieve their dreams and gain the right training so they can get exciting jobs in the dance industry.

“I would encourage anyone who is interested in a career in dance to come and see us here and find out more.”

Amy said: “I am so happy that I made the decision to come to Kidderminster College.

“I have had the most amazing training to help me reach my dream.”
