FOUR enterprising children have capitalised on a toy craze to raise money for Kemp Hospice.

School friends Edric, Orla, Hamish and Isla created and sold loom bands, a global playground fad, at The Station Inn in Fairfield, Kidderminster and raised £55.47 for the charity.

Loom bands are colourful bracelets and charms made by weaving rubber bands together.

Alice McMahon, a fundraiser at Kemp Hospice, said: "It is great that children are getting involved in helping their local hospice.

"We really appreciate all the hard work they have put in and we really hope they enjoyed their first fundraising experience.

“On behalf of the children and their families we would like to thank The Station Inn for supporting the children with their fundraising idea.”

Kemp Hospice is also calling on members of the public to follow in the children's footsteps and raise money for the charity by completing a riverside walk.

On Sunday, September 14 fundraisers will walk along the River Severn from Bewdley to Highley in support of the hospice, before returning aboard a steam engine.

Kate Wilkinson, events fundraiser at Kemp Hospice, said: “The walk is always a fabulous event with picturesque villages and friendly people so why not join us and make it a day to remember?"

Registration costs £15 for adults and £7.50 for those aged under 16, and includes a Kemp Hospice t-shirt, a slice of cake and hot drink, and a train ticket.
