CHRISTMAS came early at a day care centre in Stourport-on-Severn, with clients crafting festive cards with the team.

The clients at Ravenhurst Day Care Centre in Lickhill Road North, have been creating cards straight from the heart for friends and loved ones, with the help of a Kidderminster College student, 18-year-old Verity Coxon and the centre manager Nicky Smith.

Mrs Smith said: “Our clients absolutely love Christmas so we have been busy making some really special cards. Verity’s enthusiasm has definitely been getting us all in the mood for Christmas.

“She is a wonderful addition to our team here and our clients adore spending time with her.”

Miss Coxon is currently studying Health and Social Care Level Three at Kidderminster College and has been spending one day a week working with the team at the day care centre.

She said: “I enjoy working alongside the clients and enjoy the various activities and the friendly and caring atmosphere. It’s a pleasure to be welcomed into the centre and getting to know the clients.”

Gaynor Edgar, Verity’s tutor at Kidderminster College, said: “All our course aim to get people into careers and that is why we place great emphasis on placements such as this one. Verity is thoroughly enjoying her time at Ravenhurst Day Care Centre and I am sure it will her in good stead when she decides to either apply for a job or go on to study higher education.”

The centre, which is directly behind Sanctuary Care’s Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, runs affordable morning and afternoon sessions every week day. Homemade hot lunches are provided and transport is available.
