THE A456 Bewdley to Cleobury Mortimer was closed Tuesday evening due to a car crash.

A Mercedes Actros heavy goods vehicle and a Honda Jazz collided on the A456 Longbank, Bewdley just before 5pm on Tuesday, January 13.

The driver, a 42-year-old woman, and passenger, a 10-year-old child, in the car were both taken to Worcester Royal Hospital.

The 50-year-old male driver of the lorry was not injured.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue sent a crew from Bewdley and Kidderminster and West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Serve were also at the scene.

A spokesman from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue, said: "Appliances from Bewdley and Kidderminster attended the incident at the Bewdley bypass, A456 Longbank.

"No one was trapped and the vehicle was made safe. One adult and a child were then conveyed to hospital by ambulance."

The road was closed between Blackstone Island and Wharton Golf Club, but reopened in both directions at 8.40pm.
