WYRE Forest MP Mark Garnier has welcomed the positive results of a report into the quality and academic standards of higher education provision at Kidderminster College.

The Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Higher Education Review found the college had effective academic support and careers services, key indicators of good practice at the college.

In addition, the QAA also judged the quality of student learning opportunities and academic standards all met with the expectations set out in the Quality Code for Higher Education.

Mr Garnier said: “As a former governor of Kidderminster College, I am pleased that the efforts and high standards of staff are being rewarded in this way.

“The college can now proudly display the QAA Quality Mark.”

The QAA review team made the following recommendations to Kidderminster College.

By March 2015, to make explicit the role and membership of the committee responsible for higher education in overseeing the quality and standards of the College's higher education provision.

By September 2015, they should develop an effective, regular and systematic process for the review of Pearson programmes, develop a process to allow a coherent overview of higher education provision and formalise opportunities for staff and students to contribute to the process of quality enhancement.
