FOUR girls have been picked to lead the parade at this year’s Bewdley Carnival.

Isobel Horton, 8, and Imogen Marshall-Dutton, 4, from St Annes Primary School and Paige Carter, 9, and Eryn Greenwood, 8, from Bewdley Primary School, have been picked as the Bewdley princesses to lead the parade on Saturday, June 6.

The Bewdley Carnival parade will leave Hales Park, before travelling down the Cleobury Road and into Bewdley town centre. The parade will then travel over the River Severn and along the Stourport Road, onto the leisure centre field, where the afternoons entertainment will commence from 2.15pm.

Sue Matthews, one of the organisers, said: “This year’s afternoon entertainment will include ‘The Mighty Smith’ Adrian Smith, who has held the UK’s strongest man title three times and was a credible fifth place in the World’s Strongest Man competition.

“Also during the afternoon entertainment there will be a display by Severnside School of Dancing, H.C.W Wrestling, Megan Ince will perform an Irish dancing display, Simon Airey the animal man and David Lawrence will sing.

“There will also be many stalls, a fun fair, a bouncy castle, face painting and plenty for all the family.

“It is always a great day out for all the family.”

Entrance on to the field will be £2 for adults, £1 for pensioners and children over 10 and free entry for children under 10.

If you are interested in joining the parade with a float or a walking group, or wish to have a stall on the carnival field, you can contact Sue on 01299 401841.
