CANDIDATES looking to become Wyre Forest’s MP have been interviewed by a district vicar about issues of interest to churchgoers.

Rev Eva McIntyre has been talking to those standing in the General Election, and filming the results for her YouTube channel, in a bid to help undecided voters make a decision before polling day on May 7.

She said she has focused on issues that are of particular concern to churchgoers, although not exclusive to them, rather than asking the questions already being asked.

The issues include: commitment to the International Aid budget, The environment, food banks, disability issues, the real impact of ‘Trickle Down Economics’, poverty and the growing gap between the rich and the poor.

Rev McIntyre said: “I’ve heard so many church people say that they don’t know who to vote for, even after the excellent Hustings in Wyre Forest, and I felt I needed to do something more.

“So I emailed the candidates who have responded very positively, making time where they are able, to come and talk to me and be filmed for a YouTube channel.

“I’m not asking the questions that we’re hearing on a daily basis; those replies are already ‘out there’ for everyone to find and it is important that people make an effort to engage with the information that is already there.”

Each candidate is also asked why Christians should vote for their party.

“I’ve already begun uploading videos to a YouTube Channel and will continue to do so over the coming days as more politicians come for their interviews.

“It’s a real privilege to have the opportunity to do this and I hope that it will help some of those undecided voters to make a choice about where to put their X on May 7.”
