POLICE are warning people to take extra care to keep their homes and vehicles safe following a series of burglaries in Kidderminster.

Over the past week, burglaries have taken place at unsecured properties in the Aggborough, Hoobrook, Spennells, Offmore, Greenhill and Broadwaters areas of Kidderminster.

The burglaries took place at various times during both day time and night time hours, in the past week, with items including laptops, iPads, handbags, watches and cash taken.

Detective Inspector Emma Wright said: "On some of these occasions, the properties were unsecured, making it possible for opportunist thieves to enter.

"Don't make it easy for criminals; check that your home is secure.

"Please ensure that all ground floor doors and windows are securely locked, especially at night or when leaving the room for a period of time. In addition, please ensure vehicles are secure when parked at or near your home as these have also been targeted.

"We are unsure if these incidents are linked, but are urging anyone with information to contact West Mercia Police on the non-emergency number 101, or 999 if the crime is in progress."

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously through independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or via their website.
